Spring is in the air, and we at Steven Miller Design Studio (SMDS) are all about fresh design and spring cleaning—but it’s not our own house we’re concerned with. Time again for the annual San Francisco Decorator Showcase: the 2007 Showcase, the 30th anniversary of this venerable event, will open its doors next weekend.

Selected to participate for the third time in as many years, this time we’re making ourselves at home in a stunning Pacific Heights mansion; specifically, in the dining room—and Steven is bringing his considerable chic to the table. Inspired by the splendor and history of the setting, but distinguished by a signature SMDS twist, the final composition is an easy blend of the traditional and contemporary.  In accordance with the showcase theme, “A Celebration of San Francisco Design,” our composition nods to the work of the late John Dickinson, a force in Bay Area design and an important influence on SMDS’s aesthetic.

We simply could not have asked for a lovelier setting. Spacious and bright, with high ceilings and breathtaking views, this dignified dining room demanded a design worthy of its pedigree—and we are only too happy to oblige. Rendered in a warm, neutral palette with metallic accents, the finished room will include a spectacular hand-painted mural, a sleek dining table designed by Steven himself, an opulent hand-tufted carpet, and an eclectic selection of tabletop items, art, and objets guaranteed to whet any design junkie’s appetite.

Please come visit!  The San Francisco Decorator Showcase is open to the public from April 28-May 28; please click here for address and hours.

We hope to see you there . . . until then, please click here for a quick taste.
